Brighton Pride has relaxed its ticket prices rules after complaints.
The festival is to charge entry for the first time this year with ticket prices as high as £17.50 for those who buy on the day.
The change sparked complaints from Brighton residents, who have questioned why the fee is necessary.
Now, new prices have been announced after “feedback” from the community.
Organisers said today that people in all East and West Sussex postcodes will benefit from a reduced early-bird rate of £8.50, while under-18s can buy a ticket for £5. Children under 12 have free entry.
Previously, Pride said early bird tickets would only be available for those in BN postcodes. Tickets for those in East and West Sussex will go on sale on Thursday April 21st, while those living outside the area can buy ticket from May 12th.
No further concessions for disabled people or the unemployed have been announced, although some tickets are being set aside for community groups.
Tickets will be available from ticketline.co.uk.
Pride chairman Russell Allen said: “We are delighted that on the day we announce when tickets will be on sale we have been able to offer additional concessions and extended postcodes.
“I am particularly pleased that on top of these additions we have retained 4,000 tickets which will be given out free of charge to community groups, organisations and charities”.
Pride organisers have defended the decision to charge entry and say it is necessary to ensure safety.
